Curriculum & Activities

The Infant/Toddler program at Tartt’s daycare is designed to promote development and learning through play and age appropriate activities. Activities focus on developing social interaction skills, cooperation with others, recognition of self and others, and language development. Languages taught at Tartts include: English, Spanish, and American Sign Language.

Sensory – Teaches children about their body parts and the five senses through exploration, discovery and hands-on practice.

Fine Motor – Focuses on hand-to-eye coordination and control over the use of small muscles in their fingers and hands. Fine motor activities also foster creativity and self expression.

Gross Motor – Teaches physical coordination and promotes physical fitness

Cognitive – These activities promote thought processes such as; problem solving, language, knowledge of self and environment.

Music – Music has always been an important part of the Tartt’s curriculum. In addition to our daily music curriculum, Tartt’s has engaged several expert music artists in residence, who are highly qualified and have a varied background working with very young children. Making music with others gives children a wonderful feeling of belonging to the group. New research shows that music has a positive influence on young children’s cognitive skills such as spatial reasoning and memory. Research also shows that providing children with a rich and stimulating environment involving all the senses, including the auditory sense, can support children’s healthy growth and development.

Parents are encouraged to participate along with their children in our music classes.

Toddlers, & Preschoolers

Course Description:  Little Beats enrichment classes build confidence through physical exploration in a social learning environment. Our classes contribute to whole-body wellness for children of all ages and developmental abilities. Creative dance enhances creativity, physical literacy, and coordination by encouraging children to explore their bodies in new ways! Heavily rooted in music and imagination, children learn how to express themselves, problem solve and will also master fundamental movement concepts and skills to a diverse range of music and dance styles.

Sprouting Melodies® Sing! Play! Move! Grow!  Infants, Toddlers, Preschoolers

Sprouting Melodies® is an award-winning early childhood music program featured at our daycare facilities. It is the only early childhood music program created by music therapists and offered through Board Certified Music Therapists who complete the Raising Harmony™ early childhood training.

Child-centered, family music experiences

Sprouting Melodies® offers a distinctly different, development-based approach to infant and toddler music classes. Age-specific classes for infants, toddlers, siblings and preschoolers include songs, instrument play and movement that encourage musical, social, physical, and emotional growth.

Each class provides an engaging environment aimed at enhancing important skills such as communication, self-organization, and interaction.

All of the songs used in our Sprouting Melodies classes are created or adapted by Board Certified Music Therapists to address areas of development in young children. By using our songbook and singing the songs at home, you are providing the repetition that your child needs to learn, as well as engaging in a really fun activity with your child. These songs are great for car rides, dinnertime preparation, waiting in the doctor’s office or any other time of transition.

Make these songs your own and find all of the wonderful ways that will encourage your child to grow into the beautiful, incredible little being that they are. And most importantly, have fun making music.

With their expertise in music therapy and special training in early childhood development, Sprouting Melodies Providers™ are uniquely qualified to cater to the needs of individual children within groups. They also teach parents how music can strengthen bonds, engage cooperation and transform situations within the family.
